News Editor

The News Editor is responsible for the non-linear editing of the morning, weekend newscasts and special projects for ABC7 and NBC2.

The News Editor works closely with the Producer of assigned shows and other newsroom colleagues to obtain the cleanest and most editorially sound show on the air. Other functions include but are not limited to archiving stories and organizing video in a windows-based editing environment, performing operations in the feed-room.

Must be able to edit to script and tell a story with pictures, have a grasp of newsroom operations and a clear understanding of current events. Must work well under deadline pressure with strong communication and computer skills.

Minimum of two years of college or trade school, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Familiarity with Edius is a plus.
