A highly motivated leader who has the ability to lead reporters and producers in creating compelling content for our on-air and online properties. Will have significant oversight in editorial judgment, story selection and showcasing on all platforms.
Must be a motivator of personnel within the news department. Must be open to recruiting entry-level and early career producers and training them in the job requirements.
Required to have good journalism competencies and adhere to the ethics and expectations of our newsroom and Waterman Broadcasting. The Executive Producer reports to the News Director.
Responsibilities:
- Manage newsroom content and showcasing across multiple platforms, to improve the quality of our product and the growth of our audience as measured by ratings and analytics.
- Collaborate with producers, field crews, reporters, anchors, and other managers to select stories for coverage.
- Oversee and edit writing for all platforms, including stories, newscast teasers, headlines and social posts. Review broadcast stories, ensuring accuracy and journalistic balance.
- Ensure newscasts are consumer-focused and properly organized. Seek insight from ratings trends and act upon that data and other research.
- Monitor all products on all platforms for compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as the First Amendment, and train staff to do the same.
Job Tasks:
- Supervise Newsroom Staff
- Communicate effectively with all teams involved in a newscast.
- Communicate effectively as a team leader with other news managers.
- Communicate effectively with the technical team leading them by example
- Mentor staff for growth within the Company
- Lead by example
- Schedule and manage team of newscast producers to deliver and continuously improve the quality of our news programs.
- Recruit and develop a training program that provides staff with opportunities to expand their knowledge
- Develop a pipeline of talent

- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
- College Degree in related field
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in TV or Digital producing
- Proficiency in all TV Producer responsibilities
